How to Fix Hangouts Camera Not Working on Windows

  1. Check Hangouts Permissions
    • Open Hangouts and click on the three dots in the top right corner.
    • Select Settings > Video.
    • Under "Camera," make sure your camera is selected.
  2. Update Your Camera Driver
    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the "Cameras" section.
    • Right-click your camera and select "Update driver."
    • Select "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Check Your Firewall
    • Open the Windows Control Panel.
    • Select "System and Security" > "Windows Firewall."
    • Click on "Advanced settings."
    • In the "Inbound Rules" section, look for "Hangouts Camera Access." If it's not there, click on "New Rule..." and create a new rule to allow Hangouts to access your camera.
